When you think of Nike, you might think of Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tiger Wood or Cristiano Ronaldo. Nike wants you to associate these legends with their brand as it makes people who are their fans more likely to purchase their products. This not unique to sports, but it wasn’t relevant in cookware until now. Let’s dive into some of the notable partnerships in the space:
HexClad x Gordan Ramsay

Gordon Ramsay is probably the most famous chef in the world. He has been in the spotlight since the turn of the century. People love his rough yet charming attitude. HexClad was looking for a new spin on their marketing campaign and they hit a home run with Ramsay, a chef with a reputation for high standards and no nonsense.

If there’s one person a kitchenware brand could get a stamp of approval from, a Michelin star chef would be the right choice. Ramsay is more than a celebrity. His signature restaurant in Chelsea, London (fittingly named Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea) has held three stars since 2001. In total, his restaurants have been awarded 17 Michelin stars. Safe to say that is the type of chef you want representing your brand.
Our Place x Selena Gomez

Our Place took a slightly different route, going with a more traditional celebrity to endorse their brand. Selena Gomez is someone who resonates with the millennial female demographic who tend to buy the most cookware. Her massive social media following provided Our Place a great audience to promote their product. Plus, a few extra colorways never hurt anybody.
I think we will see more brands employ celebrities as spokespeople given the massive rise in social media advertising. I’m excited to see where this goes, and maybe come across more TV commercials in due time. Whether you bought your cookware set because you liked the look, good reviews or your favorite celebrity told you to, any reason is a good reason. As always, happy cooking!
