Lately I feel that cast iron and stainless steel have dominated the cookware discourse. I want to touch on ceramic products, which have become both underrated and undervalued in the current market. It offers a different option with some very real benefits depending on what your goal is.

When we talk about Caraway, and ceramic pots & pans in general, you have to mention the aesthetics. For me, upscale cookware is like art. That might explain why I have a blog dedicated to it. I really appreciate the toned down, pale color palette they offer on their site. This cream color is nice, and they also have an awesome Iconic series with both black and white products and gold handles.

Something about the gold trim just does it for me. Anyway, let’s dive into function. What’s really great about ceramic is the easiness of use. The cleaning is very easy due in large part to the lack of stick on the pans. I’d say ceramic products in general are best used for low-heat ingredients like vegetables or eggs.

Le Creuset, pictured above, are another player in the ceramic game. Another big pro of ceramic cookware is the non-toxic aspect. You’re running the risk of getting some metallic flavor in your food with these other materials. Now, at the same time, a big reason for that is the higher heat you cook with those. You don’t want to be using high temperatures with these products.
Especially with the growth of enameled cast iron products, I think true ceramic cookware has fallen by the wayside in the eyes of the general public. But it could not be further from the truth. If you’re truly passionate about cooking, you recognize the value of these products for certain dishes. Whether ceramic or enameled cast iron, level up your game today. As always, happy cooking!
